Softaculous - an auto/instant installer
Posted by - NA - on 31 October 2009 12:42 AM

Linux based hosting plans will have in the cPanel (their control panel) under the Software section, a button called Softaculous.

Softaculous is an auto/instant installer. It can be used to install the scripts/software listed on the left (left being the list shown there, in the control panel and we also show it here, below). You dont need to create any database for the scripts and go through the complex procedures of installing these software! Softaculous will do that for you.

Softaculous currently supplies over 200 software titles. To view the entire list, click the link below.

I want to check out Elgg. I've tried to find the Softaculous button in my cPanel, but it's either not there or I'm missing it. Has Softaculous been removed and/or is their another auto install script for Elgg?

RESPONSE: Softaculous should be installed on every server. If it is not available on yours, please contact support so we can look into it.

You can host the latest version. We supply both PHP 5.2 and 5.3. You may need to set your environment to use PHP 5.3 though, full details on doing that can be seen here :

First you will have to locate a script that you want to install, I would search google for groupon clone scripts. Once you have picked out the one you want to setup, the install instructions are provided directly by the vendor. We can also help with the install if desired.

Nothing happens using the script.

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Hi, I tried to install wordpress on my addon domains with Softaculous. I checked the file manager and all WP files seemed to be there. However I get a 'Server Not Found' error when I try to go to load the pages login screens.

This sounds like the add-on domain is not point to the web server yet. Check and make sure that all the DNS for the add-on domain is set correctly.

Can I install a CMS and ownCloud on the same domain? The reason I want to do this is to have encrypted login to both applications.

Yes, you can install both on the same domain. I would place each in separate sub folders under the web root.
