When trying to send mail, the client receives the "Access denied - Invalid HELO name (See RFC2821 4.1.1.1)" Error

This error:

Access denied - Invalid HELO name (See RFC2821 4.1.1.1)

Is often caused by not having SMTP Authentication turned on. Please make sure that you have SMTP Authentication turned on in your email client and try sending the email again.

Can you improve this answer by being more specific about the smtp authentication settings. It would also help to provide information according to email client. I am having problems with Thunderbird under Windows 7.
