If you have sensitive data transfer to the website, you should install your own SSL certificate. Say, to access domain abc.com via a secure layer (https), you should do the following.
If you already have an SSL, we can install that for you, free of charge. | |

How do you do step 4? How do you install the certificate?
RESPONSE: On our linux plans, there is a portion inside your control panel where you may be able to accomplish this. We however suggest that you contact us so we can take care of this for you.

Sometimes that is a bug on the ssl provider's part. Please consult your provider on what you need to do in that case. A lot of times though if you put US/UK, it will go through fine.

Hi and thanks,
I have installed ssl via cpanel on my domain, and I wanted to do this because of my shop, now I can login as admin but I get redirected to: http://stats.horse.arvixe.com/ when I try to view my shop after installing ssl, any ideas? Im a newbie when it comes to ssl, so do I need to upload or do anything via ftp for this domain/shop? Im using presta and I turned on ssl in the backend and I change in config file

That is due to propagation. Please wait several hours for your domain to propagate to your dedicated IP. You can speed up the process by clearing your browser cache and doing a dns flush through command line.

On our linux accounts, you can generate a CSR directly from the control panel. For windows based accounts we will need to create the CSR for you and you can contact our SSL staff directly at ssl at arvixe.com for help with that. Keep in mind you will need a dedicated IP as well to run your SSL.

ASP accounts require installation by the server administrator. You can email your account details and SSL certificate to ssl at arvixe.com and we will get that installed for you.

There are several ways to do this all depending on the type of account you have. The simplest is to just email ssl [at] arvixe.com and have use create the CSR for you.

We have a new VPSClass ASP with arvixe.com. On our VPS there is a folder C:\SSL with a cert and a key. Can you help me to setup SSL on our site www.palaceufrs.com? Thanks

That SSL is for *.arvixevps.com, it is used to encrypt the hostname of the VPS. It can not be used to run SSL over your domain. For that you will need your own SSL certificate. If you would like for us to get one setup for you, please contact sales [at] arvixe.com

Now that I have SSL, how do I set it up so that all requests to http are automatically switch to https? I want to make sure all connections are secured and I know in Apache you can do this with a rewrite cond. How do I accomplish this in Arvixe hosting?

This can be done via IIS manager (for sure) or maybe in the web.config. I'd recommend reaching out to our support team if you are unable to figure this out. I am sure we can be of some assistance.

Once the SSL has been installed by our support department the SSL can be activated by simply passing https to your links across your website (adding https in your browser URL is a way to manually make use of SSL).
Most scripts have an "enable SSL option" but this is specific to each script and is usually found somewhere in the Admin section of said script. Once enabled it will usually force pages requiring security to https automatically.
