How limited is "Unlimited"?
Posted by - NA - on 20 February 2010 11:05 AM

Arvixe does not meter the amount of bandwidth and disk space for your account, and provides complete freedom in hosting files necessary to the operation of your websites.

To further elaborate on that, while other hosting companies limit you to specific monthly disk space and bandwidth, we pride ourselves in being able to not limit you and give you the liberty to upload your various website related data to your hosting space and let your website visitors enjoy the server's bandwidth without you needing to worry if you went over either a bandwidth or disk space monthly quota limit.

Your usage is subject to our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and may not be used for purposes such as file storage or retaining backups. While we do not meter your accounts, we may audit high usage accounts to ensure compliance. Our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy may be found below:

Usage of Arvixe services requires acceptance of these Terms of Service and adherence to our Acceptable Use Policy.

In addition to disk space and bandwidth, some websites may require large quantities of CPU usage, memory, or processes in order to serve the site to visitors. These resources are not limited and the following article provides information regarding their specified limits:

hello. i've just read the "How limited is "Unlimited"?" and i have some questions! first off all i'm from romania, and i'am thinking to make a videosharing website (like many others), i understand your web hosting supports ffmpeg, that's very good. i want to store on my website some serials,(500gb) and i'm asking you what web hosting plan cand you apply to me, and if my visitors of my site acces my site from romania how the videos work. tks

RESPONSE: That amount of data hosted on a Personal/Business plan will unfortunately count as storage/backup and will not be allowed. If the data is actively being accessed however, the CPU/memory usage occupied by the visitor count will warrant a VPS/dedicated server. Therefore, we suggest that you look to our VPS/Dedicated server solutions for your website.

Hello support team,

I have an online store that's selling digital downloads. These are ebooks, videos, softwares and pdfs and i do have full rights to sell them. These files are not publicly shared so only a customer can download and use the files..my calculation about the size of these files is less than 50 gigabytes or more than that.my question is....
Do you allow this type of business on a personal/business hosting?
I need your answers guys..please.

Unfortunately as the data is being archived and is only available to a small set of audience, it would be against our TOS. Generally, we don't monitor usage but as sites end up in the higher ranges of usage such as 50 GB, they would need to conform to our TOS as far as space usage goes. I would suggest our VPSClass for this website.

i would like to upload around 20Gb at first and then increasing, but, all of my data(articles, audios and videos) will be accessible to any one who visits the site. What will be an approximate limit of disk space and bandwidth that i may be able to get?

Unfortunately at that rate, it does sound like archival. However, you could definitely keep it around there and not have any issues.

Seeing the responses to these questions makes me want to ask my own. I'm looking to build a web site to provide a simple photo sharing site for my family. There could occasionally be some movie files included as well. This would not be a public site -- only registered users could access it.

Is this allowed or does it fall under the "archive" designation?

Anything less than 20 GB (and higher on BusinessClass) which is quite a bit of space goes completely under the radar so you would not have any issues.

does this mean if I have an affiliated website where customers can access my own developed software, pdf, video files, word documents generated and stored in the server for a document management system for my clients I cant use this service? mainly i am only allowed to have a brochure kind of website and cannot use this for a online business using a personal pro account?

It is simply meant to enforce a fair usage policy. 99% of any sort of usage even archival is fine and goes unnoticed. However, once users start putting large amounts of data on a shared hosting account which is expensive to maintain (we backup and double backup the same data and heavily invest in having the latest technology available in the space), it starts to be considered abuse.

Just for the record, in this post is mentioned "unlimited space" for shared hosting, and I think that includes "Reseller Plans", but on the hosting plans page it states space limit = 50 GB for reseller ASP plan... so? confused. Anyway, I'm ok with the 50GB limit as I was aware of that before paying, I just wanted to post this in case I understood wrong thing.
Arvand Sabetian

This post in no way implies that all of our shared hosting plans offer unlimited space. Its simply a guide and a response to a question in regards to what unlimited means. Each respective plan page outlines the amount of space offered for that plan. Our reseller plans do not offer unlimited space.

Reading all these made me ask, so which of the plans that you have is ACTUALLY UNLIMITED?
I mean an unlimited, no questions asked, no monitor, nothing to worry about from payer end?
Arvand Sabetian

Unfortunately, as with everything in life. Unlimited does come with terms. Arvixe, nore any other company on the internet, has any unlimited plans without terms to protect themselves from abuse.

This is obvious untruthful advertising. I bought personal class because I read unlimited space. So, I spend my money and time, because you wrote unlimited space. And guess what, I'm currently at 27GB and I was told that I'm breaking TOS. So, waste of time, money and nerves. And you know it's probably not even legal to do that, but then again, who will spend time going after you. Just like with everything else, it should be asterisk and somewhere on the bottom it should say unlimited is very much limited.
Arvand Sabetian
02 June 2011 11:09 PM
I'm quite sorry you feel that way. We certainly want to give our users all possible freedoms without being abused. And using the space we provide which comes at such an expense (rich with PHP/ASP .NET/MySQL/MSSQL/etc. etc.) for backup purposes is considered abuse.

After all, if something is limited by TOS, then it should not really be advertised with the term "unlimited" - simply put.
Simply be honest in advertsing and everything is OK - for ALL. NO disappointed customers.
Regardless what "other companies on the internet" do - or is regarded as "prevalent" practice. Be better than them - even in word choice ...
Arvand Sabetian
25 July 2011 08:57 AM
For 99% of our customers, our services are both regarded as Unlimited and used as Unlimited.

It is simply abusive, unfair and out of line to backup an entire computer on a hosting space that was meant for hosting website files for reasons mentioned above. And despite what our competitors do to hide that fact, we have it publicly outlined right here on our website as well as our TOS.

I must ask also, I am in the process of making a website much like (photosig.com) where photographers can upload their photos and have others rate them. This as you can possibly imagine is storage intensive. This I do not believe would be any kind of backing up of pictures. I am not backing up my computer rather my customers are uploading their images to be reviewed by industry professionals. How would this fair to your TOS?

I appreciate your help as I was referred to arvixe due to your reputation for being fast and reliable.

Thanks,

I'm planning to build a website for a religious foundation. We plan to put online not only our website, but a set of (HD?) videos between 2 times a month to several times a week for our audience to watch afterwards and some of them will be like a distance course. No videos shall be deleted as they must be fully accessible to the audience.
How is that considered at Arvixe?

My site works with adultwatch, my plan is personal class, until I can save videos?

which is the most economical plan for unlimited space? business class?

as step personal business account to have unlimited space for videos?
Michael Carr
18 March 2012 05:54 PM
Both BusinessClass and PersonalClass provide unlimited storage space, so long as your videos are accessed regularly and are not archived data, you will have no issues. BusinessClass is more powerful, and can support more simultaneous users. The amount of traffic that you have on the site will determine which plan is right for you.

The details of storage has been outlined pretty well here, and I'm not expecting to cross that 20GB threshold in the foreseeable future. (I certainly never expected "Unlimited" to mean "You can host Youtube" after all.) However now I'm curious about the bandwidth side of things. If someone were to start streaming gigabytes of data to users nonstop, what would happen? Would there be a loss of speed, limit of persistent connections, or simply a flag being raised to you guys? Where is the line placed?
Michael Carr
27 September 2012 10:18 AM
Streaming data of that volume would increase the CPU and memory usage on the server by very noticeable numbers. We have checks in place that would alert our 24x7 server monitoring staff to the issue and then the activity would be reduced if it were exceeding the allocations of the plan.

Hello, I intend to use magento for one, up to five ecommerce web sites. Does personal class fit this ? I understand magento is pretty resource intensive. Same question for a forum associated with a joomla site (kunena or phpbb3) Does personal class fit this?
Thanks.
Michael Carr
10 July 2012 01:32 PM
The limiting factor here will be the ecommerce sites. If you want each domain to have its own SSL you will not be able to serve five sites under any one shared linux plan as each will also need an IP address. You could make them all have access using one main SSL certificate, but that will load the same domain name for each cart and will be confusing to visitors. I would suggest a VPS or reseller plan for something like that.

Hello, I plan to run 3 or 4 websites on a Drupal multisites install, using less than 10GB total (and max 256mo databases), plus some prod developpement experiments under web frameworks (rails, symfony). I should get much less than 1000 visits per day. Is personnal class OK ?
Michael Carr
10 July 2012 01:25 PM
What you have described sounds fine. The only issue would be if the traffic on all of your accounts exceeds the CPU / Memory allocations of the plan. That just depends on how your sites are coded, and how much traffic you have.

Read lots of archived data here. Lets say i have an site where my company or another company cud add tickets like this one. But also atach files like an pdf or an video.

If i get lots of users this cud end up to more then 20GB after a year or some month. This tickets whil not be reguarly used becouse they shood be read and then they may be markt as done and no-one will look at them anymore. Is this then considered as an archive? Can i use any of your'e "unlimited" host for this?

Yes, Dolphin will install and run on our Personal Class plans, but it will not support a large number of users. The number can vary greatly depending on how you setup the site, but is usually small. I would not recommend the plan for an active dolphin site.

Hey,

still I can use your web hosting without limitations of file count or space?
Michael Carr

We have no limits on file space usage of that kind, but with that many users you will likely need a powerful dedicated server to run it on depending on how active your 10k users are.

I do not understand. limited if you write that is unlimited. 27 gb is a limit. I think that induce people in error.is difficult to write it instead of unlimited Xgb? yes because it is a marketing thing. even in the "TOS" would have been better to include this limit.
Michael Carr
04 September 2012 10:12 AM
For the average user, the usage is unlimited. The limits we have are based on the types of data that you are storing on the server. You can not store files that are not accessed regularly, local backups, file distribution sites and so on. We host many sites that are larger than 27 GB and run fine as they do not fall into any of the before mentioned categories listed in out TOS.
Jimmy
08 September 2012 06:39 AM
I have .flv and .mp4 files on the server, i have purchase the video hosting and in the TOS is not mentioned that you can not have this kind of files there, especially if i have purchase the hosing specially for video hosting, and you have such a hosting for sale.

Even if i have files that are not accessed regularly, they are in accordance with your TOS, where is not specified that you can not have files that are special for the hosting you provided (for video hosting is normal to have .flv and .mp4 files)
Michael Carr
27 September 2012 10:10 AM
We support a variety of scripts that provide video hosting. The limits would relate to rhe frequency in which this content is accessed. You could not store a collection of home videos on the server that are never loaded for example. But if you had videos that are accessed regularly then they will be fine. A video hosting site will hit CPU / Memory limits far before anything else. Scripts like this can be very resource demanding.

I have an account that receives very little traffic, but occasionally needs to run a script that dumps a few thousand records into a database. If I have the need to repeat the process, it spikes my CPU usage and shuts down all sites under the account for about 10 minutes. I've discussed it multiple times with support and every time I'm told to upgrade to business class or VPS. This is simply a hobby site of mine, not a huge production site, and it's basically unusable for anything other than being seen by search engines. I never had this issue when I first signed on with Arvixe 2.5 years ago. I renewed my 2-year subscription about 5 months ago thinking I could somehow make it work. I had an unrelated issue (wanted to run Drush) and spoke with support, and was told I have to upgrade to VPS to do so. Drush is much less intense than the options I currently have available. I finally went out looking for a cheap VPS solution, and what do you know, I found plenty. Came back to Arvixe to request some portion of my remaining 1.5 years of hosting be refunded and was told no refunds after 60 days. This is a scam. Hook you on cheap pricing, and hopefully you don't figure out their shared hosting is useless until after that 60 day mark. If you had faith and paid well in advance, you are screwed as they push you to the $40/mo. plan.
Michael Carr
04 October 2012 01:22 PM
Our shared plans have set memory and CPU usage requirements. If you are running a SQL command that runs often and spikes I/O you will likely raise yourself over that limit. Many scripts now require the power of a VPS as they grow larger in scope. Other scripts will require a VPS just due to some dependency that can not be installed on a shared environment. We always provide credits for accounts that are migrated to new environments. Once you order your VPS with us, we will happily credit the remaining time on your prior plan to that VPS plan once the prior account is cancelled. Please contact me at qa [at] arvixe.com if you need help redeeming that credit.

What is the range of users online at a time on a single website that will not affect bandwidth. My site will be photo gallery type website. I want to know this so i could have an idea of when to upgrade without waiting to see my website affected by it. I know images will also affect the sites performance but i just want a rough estimate.
(Example: 0 - 5k users = personal plan, 5k - 10k = business plan ... etc)
Michael Carr
02 November 2012 11:08 AM
There really is not a range that can be set. The factor which determines this is what type of site you setup. The main limit o be concerned with is Memory and CPU power. If your site is just static html you should be able to have many 100 users on the site at one time with a personal class plan. If your site is very resource intensive then each user will draw a higher amount of CPU and memory. From the site you have described I think you will be fine starting off with our personal class hosting.

I would like to create a photo sharing site for some of my friends. I will be using Piwigo from the Softaculous installer from the control panel. However, I just read in the Terms of Service that Image Hosting Scripts (Similar to Photobucket or TinyPic) are not allowed on shared or reseller accounts. Does this mean I can't use Piwigo on the shared, personalclass accounts?

I want to create a web portal (some kind of multi-user environment where a simple script -- installed by me in all the mini-sites of my users -- creates interaction between their mini-sites. In other words, if I have 1000 members, each one with a mini-site where he uploads in his profile several photos, not more than say 15-20 MB per profile, that makes not more than 15-20 GB, for the entire community that searches and see the pages of everyone else around. Do I need to purchase another Personal hosting account after the user community grows over or over that 1000 members cap -- or that 15-20 GB limit ? My users will register by themselves their domains, I only will somehow "mirror" their mini-sites in my hosting account (for not longer than a year), after checking them to not be CPU-intensive or anything else, so I have no problems in spreading the CPU or memory use into several accounts of myself, and the script used to interlink their mini-sites will be either a php or some simple javascript code.
Michael Carr
19 November 2012 02:34 PM
The data will be fine, its the overall memory and CPU usage of the account that will be the main concern. You will be fine to start out on personal class, but as the site grows you may need to upgrade at some point in the future. from the Linux control panel though, you can track all of your usage so you will be able plan for that growth accordingly.

I have had a recent experience with another shared hosting plan of a different hosting site. While it offered unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disk space - but they suspended our account because our social engine application, according to them, was eating too much CPU processing time and RAM. Are we expected to face similar issues with arvixe too. What can we do to ensure that we do not go through such an experience with your hosting. (feel free to ask more details of the episode if you so wish)
Michael Carr
26 February 2013 10:11 AM
Social Engine is a resource intensive script. Depending on how many members you have, selecting the appropriate environment is critical. It is not uncommon for users of Social Engine to have this problem, and highly active SE sites are usually hosted on our VPS PRO plan or a dedicated server.

I want to make a wordpress website, which will contain only articles and images used in them( around 4 images of 600x300 in jpg format) and will have around 200 post. users can only read the articles. Thanks

I would imagine that it will be fine, its challenging to say though as the load created by a wordpress site can vary greatly depending on the plugins and theme you are using. Installing something like WP-super cache would be helpful as well.

we have a forum with adult content, at the moment we are running 16 Gb data and 360k file, more than half of them (200k) are an html backup of another old forum. No one file is an archive, all of them are php, html. db, or jpg. No ftp, no mail, no direct download, no sharing. we use SMF as forum software.
The most files are made by a gallery add-on that generates 3 thumbs for every photo uploaded, so a lot of file but very small. They are not accessed reguraly, but occasionaly, 'cause are the users that decided when and which album see. The forum is not public accesible and we are not indexed. we use normaly 20/25 Gigs bandwith per month. We plan to move from our ISP. Do you think personal plan is ok for our need ? Our extimated growth may be 10 GB space and 100.000 inodes in the next 2 years, and we want a biannual plan. Please we need an answer

Highly interactive sites like dating sites usually perform better on our Business Class. Its hard to say how many users the site will support on Personal class as there is no per user limit but instead overall CPU and memory limits. If your site is growing I would plan for needing to upgrade as time goes on, but when you do that we can always credit back time left on your existing plan.

I understand that it seems like anything more than 20GB on a personal class is counted as "archiving" based on the above comments, but I am wondering if the following situation classifies as "archiving", even if it exceeds this limit:

There is a user registration system and everything, and they can upload up to 50mb of data. Once I had several hundred users, it could easily pass the 20gb limit. Is this counted as "archiving" if I did not make the data, but instead users did? If I make a system where it notifies the user if they have not used their account for 30 days, and then delete the data to prevent useless data on the server, would that still be archiving? I wish not to upgrade to business class or VPS, and I am not asking for you to tell me to do that. I just want to know if this will work.
Michael Carr
25 June 2013 07:40 PM
No that would not be archiving. There is not a 20GB limit on accounts. Archiving would be uploading backups of data from your local computer to the web server, such as catalogs of images, videos or music files that are not connected to your website at all and never accessed by it. What you have described sounds perfectly fine in terms of disk usage.

I am looking for a service provider who might help me in hosting my present web application serving 2 web sites. Architecture would be ASP.NET with MS SQL for backend. presently I have around 1600GB of data stored in my site/s. This is because it uses high res. image content which I sell as an end product to my clients. I may be able to reduce the above further to come down to around 1000GB and continue with the same for another year or so - within 100GB. Can i use your personal / business class ASP hosting plans to accommodate the above. I can guaranty that all hosted data will be used by the web applications and nothing will be stored as in a repository.
Michael Carr
03 July 2013 07:05 PM
It comes down to your CPU and memory usage more than anything, but a full terabyte of data is very large for shared hosting, I would imagine that serving that volume of data will cause load issues for the account

I am puzzled. When I ordered a personalclass subscription, I got offered a to have a service installed by choice, with owncloud selected as the default one. So unlimited storage, owncloud service installed , sounded good. ....

Are you saying now that I cannot use owncloud to store my files online as a backup in my own cloud?

Also, if I can, AM I limited to a certain amount of data in my own cloud?

Cheers
Michael Carr
21 August 2013 11:39 AM
We do not allow for the archival storage of data on on our accounts, files placed on our servers are generally web files that are accessed by normal web traffic on a regular basis. That being said we do not usually police accounts on the servers for violations of this policy unless there is an obvious issue of disk abuse.

I own a system where I just need to host the site, I do not spend the control panel for the end user, that I create emails and everything. I create institutional sites, some are beaten, do not have 100 visits per month, but some have more than 4000 visits, and use a bandwidth of 20 GB of transfer. I could use the BusinessClass for all my clients? Today I have a reseller account, but I always error in calculating each package, and I see that with this plan I do not need to worry about it.

Business Class sounds ideal for your needs. Reseller class is only for those who wish to provide separate control panels to their end users.

OK, so I have been reading and I have come to understand that:

my developed site which currently uses 400 MB of picture files (and I do not expect it to multiply by more than ten times it's current size) on my personal server would not trip the warnings

my site which is currently used by me as (a) a learning tool and (b) as ultimately as an information exchange for hobbyist would not trip the bandwidth limits because I don't see it as a heavy use system.

My questions to you is... Since I do not control your servers and have no idea what your server resource limits are, how would I know (going in) if my stored procedures or queries will trip your limits? If you take memory out of a server to add to a different server, then something that was working fine before and was within limits may now be in violation. Is this a reasonable supposition?

(1) I write fairly good SQL, but how am I to know what will tax your servers or cross over your line in the sand?
(2) If my app runs fine during the first two months and there are no warnings or problems, then there are "suddenly and mysteriously" problems that crop up after the first two months with no significant changes to my application, then what options are available other then being booted to a higher priced plan? Can we both call it quits and go our separate ways?

It sounds like your site will be well within your limits. If there is ever an issue with it you can simply take your site data and host it elsewhere if desired.

I want to host my CMS web application (ASP.NET + MS SQL Server). Bandwith is low, website will be visited regulary - at the same time I think it would be max 10 people. I have question with database size. I wanted to store all data (included photos) in database, which can reach size 10 max 15 GB.
Base on information above in this topic I suppose that Personal hostig will bu suffice and the disk space and CPU shouldn't make any issue (TOS agreement)?

I want to run an image gallery site using PersonalClass hosting. I will upload around 100GB of images but the images will be scheduled to post it on my site through the year. I would like to know if this is allowed. Thanks.
Michael Carr
17 September 2013 11:27 AM
You would be on edge of what the plan supports. 100GB of images would either be very very many images or images that are not properly compressed for web usage. I do not think you could rotate them fast enough to actually say that each one is getting accessed on a regular basis.

Hi, I'm currently using shared hosting, dedicated server niestać me yet, so I look at the offer vps. What is the actual amount of data that can be transferred per month for vps. In this review 500GB limit is given.

I've read through this entire column, as well as a number of threads in the forums. I was about to keep going in my search for a new host, but thought I'd go ahead and ask anyway.

I currently host a small place where indie musicians can upload their music. I use software called Jamroom, and have had the site for 5 years. Now looking for a new host. The current site uses about 30+GB of space for the software and the MP3 files, bandwidth is relatively low. Some of the MP3 files uploaded by the artists are listened to on a fairly regular basis, some may not be listened to at all - or very infrequently.

I was looking at your Personal plan, but according to everything I've read, if files aren't actively accessed they're considered 'archival' and against the TOS. And anything over ~20GB is subject to review as to whether the system is being abused.

I don't want to go to the trouble of changing hosts if I'm going to immediately run into those issues, so I thought it best to just ask. Is this scenario unacceptable for the Personal plan, or "on the edge of what the plan supports"? Thanks...

Thanks for the reply, Michael, appreciate it. If the above won't be an issue, or on the edge of an issue, then it seems Arvixe is the place to be. I'm researching a replacement for Jamroom now, and will be moving to Arvixe as soon as I find a suitable system...

Hi, I have a web site that 90% of the visits are from data devices, each one of this devices report to the server every 10 or 15 secons to a page with no view.
so the site have near 25k visits every hour.
the site uses like 200Mb of space and consume like 20Mb of memory that acording to cpanel memory report.
so, there is a plan where this site can be located?
Michael Carr

That is hard to say without knowing the resource usage created by your site in terms of CPU, and I/O, 20 MB of RAM is pretty low though and it sounds like the site maybe fine for our personal class.

Hi there.... I have about 10 sites all light traffic and more of a hobby than serious business so was looking @ your Personal Class Pro plans...

Question 1:
One of my sites is used by about 20 people for email all of which are IMAP accounts. What is the limit for a single email account and what is the total limit for all email accounts?

Question 2:
Do you allow backups to Amazon S3 service?

Thanks

Jason

1- there are no limits on the email accounts, you can create as many as you want.

2- Yes, there are no restrictions on backup services. So long as the hosting account has the ability to utilize the server, we place no further restrictions on it.

Hi,
if my web site posted lots of image (let's say 50gb) and will be posted on my website for 1 year (i not sure the image going to be delete or add for some reason), is it alright to use personal class? no over the limitation?

my web site condition is below:
(no login / no download & upload/ no comments / expecting 1,000 visitor per day)

Thank you.

The plans do not allow for archival storage so all of those files would have to be accessed regularly. A site with that much data being accessed constantly would probably be over the CPU or I/O limits of the Personal Class plan.

Hello,
I have a Wordpress news blog I want to move to shared hosting. We have around 15,000 visits a day and our posts are pretty image heavy (we post 2 to 5 times per day). We plan on developing a user database that will include an image for every one and a small bio page. Does the Personal Class plan sound okay with these characteristics?
Thank you

It is difficult to say. Wordpress can vary greatly in the loads it creates due it its various plugins and methods of optimization. Without knowing the actual CPU/RAM/IO usage that your site may create I can not be certain. If it is an income producing site though I would suggest our Business Class.

Hi there!
After reading all the queries I really got confused! I am planning to host an OpenCart store(For crafts and other creative physical goods) with the personal class plan (with SSL). I'm not planning to archive any files or folders other than uploading the product images, necessary files and installing modules, extensions etc. Moreover, I believe for the first few months there will not be remarkable traffic to my site and in this way I won't be using more that 3 to 8GB of the disk space. Does that sounds like a good fit for the personal class? Also, besides $4/month, is there any hidden fees that I'll have to pay after buying the hosting plan? Your reply regarding this will be much appreciated. Thanks!
Michael Carr
20 November 2013 10:48 AM
Our Personal Class plan sounds like a perfect fit for your needs. There are no hidden costs, but to run a store most people want SSL, which costs $25 per year, and an dedicated IP to run the SSL, which is an extra $2 per month.

unlimited space means how much can i know exactly
Michael Carr
20 November 2013 10:46 AM
It means unlimited. there is no limit. As mentioned in the article there are limits on CPU and I/O usage though and as a site gets larger it will consume more of these resources, but the amount is determined by how your site is configured so there is no finite limit that applies to all situations.

I need to get one thing of my mind. I have Reseller CLASS subscription and now I got to something that bothers me. The only difference from Personal PRO and Reseller CLASS is that with Personal PRO I cannot open cPanels for my hosted websites?
Everything else is pretty much the same. 50 gigs limit, unlimited domains, cpanel... Am I correct?

Thanks,

Michael Carr

Yes, the main addition provided by a reseller plan is the ability to supply each domain with its own control panel, and the master panel where you can manage all of the accounts you have setup.

We are planning a website. We will post 5-10 articles per day, some will be only text-based articles while some will be image based. We wont be uploading any videos (though youtube links are included). The average pagesize is 3MB.

Will the shared hosting plan work with the above requirements? Expecting around 25K visitors & 125K page views per day .

If not shared, will VPS work?

We are looking to launch a website for a new charity. It will be a wordpress site with around 30 photos at any one time. i am running a video website on a server. i want to switch to other server, my each video size is between 500MB to 4BG before uploading. My current total space
of data is 45 GB and in future i am expected that it will increase upto 1000 GB in coming 5 to 10 years while visitor of my website is expected not increase upto 100 at one amount of time. is BC on your server
is ok for my website
Michael Carr

I would suggest a dedicated environment for that amount of data. The more traffic you have with that amount of data the greater the I/O usage will be on the server.

I am an ASP.NET/MVC/Unity 3D developer and want to run a small personal Orchard CMS site for my own digital artwork and mobile games developed (made in Unity 3D and published via Windows Phone, Google Play, and IOS stores). I don't expect heavy traffic through the site, but I do plan to have an online high score table for my games as an MVC app which would take a very small amount of data (a user's Facebook ID and an integer for the high score) which may get hit several times a day.

Is Personal Class ok for this purchase? Can I scale up to Business Class easily if I need to?

Personal Class sounds fine for that. If your site grows to the point where it needs an upgrade, we supply the transfer to the upgraded account for free.

Not a problem if its not delete , why because its unlimited DB's creation is available.

Hello, I want to purchase a personal class pro web hosting plan and then launch a website there. I have around 30-35 users and for them 30-35 mail id's need to be created under a single domain. They will need web based panel to send/receive mails and quota for each user will be around 5GB. Will there be any issues in email service under this plan?
Michael Carr
08 July 2014 12:58 PM
That should be fine, but if all users use 5GB then that puts you at 70GB for email alone. Depending on how active your site and these users are, that may put you at risk for I/O over usage. I would set each quota to 1 GB and have the users periodically download their emails off the server to be stored locally. Most IMAP Clients can be configured to do that.

Hi, I'm thinking of signing up for one of the hosting services arvixe provides. Just want to be sure I sign up for the correct plan. I want to build a site that would currently have 3 or 4 audio files about 30 to 50MB each available to members for listening to. Since the site would be brand new, I have no idea how much traffic and how many times the audio files would be accessed. If not accessed frequently, would this be considered storing files and abuse? Thanks in advance.

I want to create a website that uses the wiki look for articles as well as a forum. The plan is to let forum members upload their pictures to share. We want the site to be pic heave. In what plan is all of this possible? The goal is to maybe reach 1000 active forum users.

What would you recommend for a site that receives about 60,000 hits a month? Personal or business class?
Michael Carr

It can depend greatly on the type of site that you have, for actual hits I see many sites on personal class which handle that but if you are talking about visitors, business class is a better choice.

My mobile application needs to archive all the videos (24 second video) uploaded on it. Al videos are uploaded buy the users not me. What is the difference between the dedicated disk space and dedicated memory? How big is the space I have in the cloud pro for archiving ALL the videos?
Michael Carr
10 December 2014 01:08 PM
Disk space is data stored on the physical disk on the server. Memory is the amount of RAM you site needs to run. Cloud Pro provides 200 GB of diskspace but some of that is used by the OS install and various services. Remaining space on the device before you upload any data should be above 190 GB.

How about Disk Space , what is different between PersonalClass vs PersonalClass PRO about Disk Space ? Are they same ?

How about if i sell my digital product downloads (pay before download) and i update the total is 150GB ? IS IT OK ? PersonalClass PRO can store 150GB Download Files ?
Michael Carr
28 November 2014 10:55 AM
150 GB on personal class will likely overwhelm the I/O limits that we have in place on the server, With that much space needed I would suggest one of our cloud class packages.
Michael Carr
10 December 2014 01:05 PM
The disk space is the same on both accounts. 150GB would cause I/O issues on a personal class account. One of our Cloud plans would be more suitable for that.

Is there an inode limit or not? I've been burned before switching hosts only to find out there is a 25,000 to 50,000 inode limit which can limit me to 5-10 Joomla sites due to the number of individual files CMSs have.

I read on https://chevereto.com/ Image Sharing Script that you are partnered with them. I want to start a Image Sharing website like imgur based on their script. You allow that on your PersonalClass plan right? (and we get free Chevereto script). My question is if the website gets famous and gets GB's of storage how long before we have to stop this PersonalClass and upgrade to let's say BusinessClass? 100 GB space?

Also this script comes free with minimum 12 months plan? Its also free for Business plan or only $4 plan mentioned on website?
E-mail me detailed answer

26 February 2015 02:56 PM
As per http://www.arvixe.com/chevereto-hosting this is allowed on our shared hosting. Arvixe does not have any space/bandwidth limits on either our personal class or business class hosting plans. I'd recommend business class for fastest performance. Arvixe does not provide any sort of scripts which require a license, for free (at this time). If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to contact our sales department. That's the best way to get real time information, and can be reached over phone, live chat, or email.

26 February 2015 02:58 PM
I assure you our problem is not with you making backups. That part is great, and very much encouraged. It's the cleanup of the old accounts is the issue. We welcome you to create backups of your account, but there is no need to keep more than a couple days worth of backups on your hosting account at one time. It's a waste of space and it violates our terms of service. I encourage you to ensure you are downloading these backups to your own machine/server often as a fail safe.
