What is the difference between your Windows (ASP) and Linux (Regular/cPanel) plans?

Both platforms can be maintained by anyone using any platform (Mac, Windows, Linux, etc.). However, the Windows plans allow ASP .NET developers to use the latest .NET framework to build their website. Also, the windows accounts provide access to MSSQL. However, our Linux/cPanel accounts do provide access to more features such as the easy script installer (Fantastico). Generally, we recommend that unless you are developing your application in ASP .NET or require MSSQL that you sign up for the regular/Linux plans. The links are as follows: | |

This is not a service we provide at this time. We are welcomed however to move over the files, databases, and email accounts yourself.

Ryan, are you offering this service yet. If not, do I need to open a linux hosting account, move the files over, then cancel the asp.net account? What kind of support do you provide with this transition?

No we are currently unable to offer a migration service between the two platforms. Depending on the setup of each account, much manual work will be required to migrate the data but that is not to say it is extremely difficult, just time consuming. As outlined earlier you will have to create the new account, then copy over the data. (files, databases, email, etc) test them on the new server, and once correct you can cancel the old account and update your DNS to make the sites load off the new server. Generally we can help point you in the right direction as well if you get stuck during this process.

Can I install a Prestashop Template on a windows OS with your e-commerce/shopping cart hosting package?

I would not recommend a windows plan for Prestashop, a Linux plan would be a better choice.

Yes, the operating system of the web server does not need to match your personal computers operating system. Linux is the most popular hosting platform.

PHP will work great on our Windows hosting, especially Wordpress. PHP is preferred on Linux if you do not have an ASP application, but *SHOULD* work fine on Windows. We offer a 60 day money back guarantee in order for you to test everything out.
