How to Create and Delete Hosting Spaces - WSP
Posted by KB Editor on 10 May 2017 03:59 PM

When a Customer User Account is created, WSP will prompt you the option of also creating a Hosting Space.  The Hosting Space(Control Panel) is where all your domain's DNS records and website data are created and stored.  This article will cover creating and deleting a Hosting Space for an existing Customer User Account on VPSClass ASP and Dedicated servers using WebsitePanel.

Creating a Hosting Space

To create a hosting space:

  1. Log into the server as serveradmin (https://servername or https://serverip)
  2. Click on Customers under the Account Menu sidebar
  3. Click on the username needing a Hosting Space(Control Panel)
  4. Click Create Hosting Space

  5. Provide the following information:
    • Hosting Plan: Use the dropdown menu to select a hosting plan(hosting package) to apply to the Hosting Space
    • Hosting Space status: Use the dropdown menu to select a status(The status is always set to Active by default)
    • Send Space Summary letter: This checkbox allows you to send the specifications of the Hosting Space once created
    • Domain Name: Type a domain name in this field
    • Create Web Site: This checkbox allows the Customer User Account to create and store website data in the hosting space
    • Create FTP Account: This checkbox creates an FTP user to remotely manage the website data using an FTP Client
    • Create "Catch-All" Mail Account: This checkbox creates a default email address([email protected]) which receives all misrouted or misaddressed email instead of sending a bounceback message to the sender.  Due to security and spam concerns we recommend leaving this checkbox blank
  6. Click Create Space

Deleting a Hosting Space

To delete a Hosting Space:

  1. Log into the server as serveradmin (https://servername or https://serverip)
  2. Click System in the Hosting Spaces section
  3. Click All Spaces under the Nested Spaces section
  4. Click the Hosting Space you want to delete under the Space Name column
  5. Click Delete in the third column
  6. Click the checkbox for Yes, I understand it and want to delete this hosting space

  7. Click Delete

Please note that the System Hosting Space is automatically generated when your hosting package is provisioned, and it cannot be deleted or modified as it is tied to the serveradmin account.  If you have additinoal question, please contact us via Live Support or submit a support ticket in your billing account.
