Related documents: If you want to start a second or third website, an addon domain is needed. An Addon Domain is added to your existing control panel and points to a subdirectory within your hosting account with us. This means you don't need to sign up online nor pay extra to start a new site. You do need to register each additional domain before you can use it. New domains can be registered at https://www.arvixe.com/domains.php If you do not want to register a new domain, consider creating a Subdomain instead of an Addon domain. *NOTE: As with pointed or parked domains, you will first need to register the domain and change the nameservers of the domain to our nameservers. If you do not do this first, you may not be able to proceed with the final setup via your control panel. After logging into your control panel, go to Domains > Addon Domains, after which you will see these options. New Domain Name: Enter your domain you wish to add here. Username/directory/subdomain Name: When you click outside the New Domain Name field, this will be filled out for you. You can leave it this way, but if a name you already used is suggested, you will need to change it. Document Root path: When you click outside the New Domain Name field, this will be filled out for you. You can leave it this way, but if a path you already used is suggested, you will need to change it. Password: Enter the password you wish to use for this domain. Now click the Add Domain button to finish.
Login to your control panel and go to Domains > Add Domain. Choose Domain for unique domain names, or Subdomain for subnames of your existing domain names. Enter your domain name in the field at top and see the either Create Website or Point to Existing Website. You will also need to Enable DNS in most cases. Then click the Add Domain button.

RESPONSE: An Addon domain is a way to add extra domains to your hosting account. A subdomain is a domain in the format something.yourdomain.com where yourdomain.com is a domain you have assigned to your hosting account.
RESPONSE: The nameservers are listed inside your billing login at http://billing.arvixe.com under each account by clicking on the Hosting Accounts section. You can also always contact support to obtain your nameservers or the initial setup email.
So where do you find the DNS name to put into remote registrars of subdomains hosted here?
Actual domains are pointed at name servers, and those name servers can be retrieved via the welcome email we sent you upon signup as well.
1. Domain 2. Sub-domain 3. Domain Alias. What is the difference between these and where is this explained? Thanks. (And there is also "Create Website 1 of 6" -- how is that different?)
I seem to have both a sub-doamin and an add-on domain for the same site which, I think is effecting redirects. Is it possible to remove the sub-domain without destroying the add-on doamin structure?
Thanks

1. Hosting Plan vs. Domain vs. Website

are broken (7-3-2011). I tried them with FF, IE, and Chrome. What is the procedure for pointing a domain with DotnetPanel?
Is it possible to set up an Addon Domain for the site I'm moving and install Elgg to just that directory and keep Dolphin 7 for the main directory/site? Or is there another way you suggest?
I've enjoyed working with your system and look forward to your feedback. Thank you.
Simply ensure the favicon is placed in the addon domain document root. It may take a few hours for it to show up. Please try checking from a different browser, etc. If it still doesn't work, please double check the coding that you rae using to load your favicon.
I don't understand what the subdomain user is for.
I thought it was maybe to access the subdir for my the addon through (s)ftp @ sftp://myaddondomain.com, but nope I get an access denied.
Can you explain what this user was created for?
Thanks
If user types in the Browser http://www.AdditionalDomain.com
then will the user land on page showing the addon domain folder in address bar:
http://www.AdditionalDomain.com/AdditionalDomain
I tried adding the new site using domain addon and it added the new site as a subdirectory to my existing site. I would prefer that it would have it's own public_html directory instead of being a subdirectory. Would this be possible?
- My addon domain does work at this URL: main.com/addon.com
- I used the redirect tool to redirect that URL to: addon.com ...but I get a 404 error and the URL indicates: http://www.addon.com/home/username/public_html/addon.com/"http://www.addon.com"
- My addon domain does not even work at this URL: addon.main.com
- I have the proper redirect in place. I have compared my work to the same redirects I've created with other sites on other hosts, and everything looks to be the same.
- I have erased the .htaccess files in both main domain and addon domain, and tried again with different methods, then erased and started again, then again...
Can I host two different domains that are already registered by a 'Personalclass Hosting' account?
< Question 2: >
If possible, I have to change the DNS setting for the 2nd domain.
When I open an account, Arvixe gave me a 'Domain DNS information' to change the setting. So I already changed the DNS setting for the first domain.
Do I have to use the SAME DNS information for the 2nd domain, too?
For example,
Domain Name Server 1: ns39.arvixe.com
Domain Name Server 2: ns39.arvixe.com
I also have an existing domain registered elsewhere, currently just used for my emails.
I wish to use my old domain name to access the new site.
I also wish to use those existing domain email addresses, but operated through my new Arvixe-hosted site.
How can I achieve this?
Also, the existing provider requires your IPSTAG in order to transfer that domain to Arvixe, how can I obtain that?
Best regards,
Dave Johnson
Sorry, you are not allowed to add any more than (0) addon domains! The domain below was not setup!
How can I solve this problem? Please help me!
Best wishes, Kris
I received this message: «A new installation of WordPress 3.5.2 has been completed. The details of the installation are shown below:
Path : /home/mydomain/public_html/newdomain.com
URL : http://newdomain.com
etc... »
But when I type www.newdomain.com ....nothing happens. :)
P.S. My plan is ''PersonalClass''.
addon-domain.com - to - main-account-domain.com
I want it to resolve to the sub-directory I specified in the add-on domain form with the addon domain name in address bar.
addondomain.com - to - addondomain.com (root/directory)
Is there something I'm missing?
I wonder how to put a website being accessed by two domains pointing to the same site. (Both domains ever registered here at Arvixe server)?
grateful.
1. Domain (Top Level)
2. Sub-Domain
Thanks in advance!
Please I need to clarify if it's possible to have a separate cpanel for an Add-On Domain. I want someone else to be able to manage the addon domain's cpanel (as in email, phpmyadmin, file manager etc), without having direct access to the main domain's cpanel. Is this possible?
1) how do I disable addon.main.com?
2) how do I restrict access to www.main.com/addon.com?
Can i still for example add as many subdomains of the following domains after adding 1.com 2.com 3.com 4.com 5.com 6.com as addon domains? thx
ns1.echidna.arvixe.com
ns2.echidna.arvixe.com
I have checked with Godaddy and I found that it was changed.I have also added it from the Addon Domain at my cpanel I tried checking it with my browser yet it only point to how one can get to my registrar.
Please let me know how to get this issue resolved as soon as possible.
1. To get email set up for both domains do i have to transfer the domains to you or can I just point them to your name servers?
2. When adding domains to my site can i create separate FTP accounts for them. I dont care if i use the same control panel for both sites.
3. I want to be able to transfer the sites before I point the domains to your servers. Where do I find the ip address for my hosting to do this.
2. You can create your own FTP accounts from the control panel and only assign them access to certain directories/websites.
3. This would be found in your hosting account information email that you received upon signup

I just opened a personal class hosting account today and registered a main domain.
I want to host the 4 other domains (registered with godaddy) and hosted with dreamhost here.
Will I first need to register these domains at arxvie? Since I am registered already, there is no value add to do this for me.
Is there an alternative approach?
You can define where ever you want the m.mysite.eu directory to be served using our control panel. You could even have it as, on our Linux hosting, /public_html/m/, etc. there are various ways it could be done.
ns1.rhea.arvixe.com and ns2.rhea.arvixe.com I am getting an 'invalid name' in the nameserver control panel??

I have another registered name and site hosted elsewhere. That site had a forwarder from IWantMYName to the other web host. The forwarder is canceled, however I understand it will take some time for the web crawlers to drop that forwarding.
I would like to make this name an Addon Domain and begin working on it. Can I do that before the name resolves to Arvixe?

You will not see any of the changes such as files uploaded to the domains directory until the name servers have been pointed and propagated to our servers.
