Transferring a domain to Arvixe

Currently you can only register/transfer these following top-level domains: .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .us, .me , .in, .mobi, .mx, .pro, .pw , .ru, .tv, .co.uk, .ca, .fr with Arvixe. If your domain is not one of those, then you can not register/transfer it with Arvixe. However, just because you can't register/transfer them to Arvixe does not mean that you cannot host them here. You can, and are welcome to do so! All you have to do is update the name servers of the domain to the ones that Arvixe will provide you. To start, go to arvixe.com, in the middle of the page there is a Search Availability box, search for the domain you'd like to transfer, add it to your cart, and continue with the order. To transfer a domain to Arvixe Web Hosting from another registrar, you should check to make sure that you have completed a few things before you start.

You guys should consider listing the Name Servers and where to enter that information in this article. Not a knock, just trying to help you improve.
RESPONSE: Thank you for the suggestion. However, since nameservers are different for different services, they are sent out with the setup email upon ordering your account.

I know what I need in order to transfer the domain, but *how* do I transfer it once I have that information?
RESPONSE: Please go to www.arvixe.com, in the search box, simply type in your domain name then choose to transfer it. It will ask you for the information you have throughout the order process.

Do you provide Authorization Key / EEP Code for the domain(the domain which comes as 'free for life' with Arvixe hosting) when someone want to move OUT of Arvixe ?

Yes, you can obtain the key from within your billing panel.

I have a question about this: I have an account with Network Solutions for my domain, and the domain is hosted by Earthlink, as you can see below. Now I'm switching from Earthlink to Arvixe. Can I use the online tool at Network Solutions to point the DNS servers from Earthlink to Arvixe? Or do I have to give sales/tech the 'authorization code' and have them do it? Since I have two more years of free hosting at Network Solutions, I don't see why I can't do it myself? But this thread seems to say that Arvixe must do the DNS repointing. Please clarify

Hello,
Please note that the thread is outlining transferring of domains not pointing them. You can simply change the dns servers from earthlink to ours and you'd be set. However, at that point, the domain would stay at network solutions. You would need to follow the steps in here if you want to completely switch the domain registration over to Arvixe.

Awesome job Arvixe, I've had absolutely no complains with ANY part of your service.
FYI, the link embedded in your automatic domain transfer e-mail is out of date (https://support.arvixe.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=76) is no longer active, perhaps point it to this article (https://support.arvixe.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/71/0/transferring-a-domain-to-arvixe) for those who might not think to search.

Hello, I have just signed up with you folks this morning. Was able to change the DNS with my domain to your's from my old host, the domain is unlocked. I have no Authorization Key / EEP Code as yet. Will the change go through at this point?

The DNS server change will. However, the domain will not transfer until you give us the authorization key from your current registrar.

I have obtained the Auth Key and sent it along. I was reading on the net and a person explained where to find it at my (Soon to be ex-) hostmaster, within my control panel. My stupidity knows no bounds. Not sure I would have looked where it was found.

Thank you. I have again requested that they provide me with an authorization key. It seems they are not very responsive to such a request. Thank you for the reply. I'm looking for a place where I may be able to file a complaint against them. I thought the domain name I purchased back in 2005 was mine. The whois says so anyway.
Arvand Sabetian
25 April 2011 07:56 AM
Unfortunately the only place you could try to file a complaint is ICANN but it is a very long winded process. I would continue to try to get a hold of them and to get the proper information from them.

I am setting up a site for a friend, but the site I'm redoing (which is his) is hosted by another company, and apparently THEY actually own the domain name. He claims that when they set up the site originally, they promised the domain belongs to him, so it should be fine. However, what should I have him do to get the transfer to Arvixe underway? Do they need to update the whois record with my info?
Arvand Sabetian
02 June 2011 11:26 PM
First thing is to have them update the dns settings to point to your hosting account. Then, make sure the domain is unlocked, that you have an authorization key from them and that the domain's WHOIS contacts point to an email address that you or your friend have access to. Then provide us with the authorization key.

It has been over 5 months since I transferred a domain to Arvixe, but my account says the transfer is still pending, and I never received a confirmation email from Arvixe. What is going on? :-(
Arvand Sabetian
24 June 2011 04:38 AM
Unfortunately that means it hasn't transferred. I would suggest contacting our support to figure out what may have gone wrong and to correct it so it gets transferred before it expires wherever its at. If a transfer failed, it means something in the above steps was done incorrectly. I would review it again.

Hi there! We are in the process of transferring our domain to Arvixe. We currently host our DNS at ZoneEdit (our current registrar point to 2 ZoneEdit name servers) and our email is taken care of by Google Apps. We would like our email to stay with Google Apps and suffer no interruptions during the transfer process, is that possible?
Thank You
Thank You

As long as the domain stays pointed to the ZoneEdit name servers, you shouldn't face any issues.

I was booking a hosting with you and there is a problem that I can not have a .co.uk domain in the selecting a new website, what should I do know?
your website says: "All you have to do is update the name servers of the domain to the ones that Arvixe will provide you."
Why I need to register and pay for a .co.uk domain some where else and then update it with the one that Arvixe provide to me.
Please help and what programming issue is this that it is not posible in the first place, please clarify? May be it will help alot of customers

We cannot register .co.uk domains at this time. (we hope to be able to register all domain extensions at some point in the future). This means you would need to already have the domain registered elsewhere or register the domain elsewhere, signup for our hosting services, and in the welcome email, we would provide you two "name servers". You would point your domain to our name servers found in the email and it should start working within a maximum of 48 hours.

It sounds as though you have the correct DNS configuration to make the the domain resolve to the servers IP address, but on the server side there is no website configured so when the web server receives the request it has no matching domain to actually serve data from. Double check your settings in the control panel and make sure that you do actually have the domain setup on your account, either as a parked or add-on domain for linux accounts, or as a website in the windows control panel.

Can I transfer a .com.mx domain to arvixe? and what do I need to do so I can use the same hosting plan with the .com.mx domain?
Michael Carr

We currently are not able to register com.mx domains, but you can host any domain with us simply by changing the name servers listed under the domain. This operation would be completed at the registrar where you have registered the domain.

That looks like excellent information. Do you also have a glossary to translate that into plain English? I'm told this stuff is quite easy to do, it's not rocket science. But one needs to know the terminology.
Just to confirm, until I get that key code you are talking about nothing will happen and my emails will still go through the old site, not Arvixe. Correct?

Hi,
I need to transfer a domain away from Arvixe and can't figure out how to do it. It's for a non-profit preschool, and another person is taking over the website. I have other domains and websites that will be staying with Arvixe, I just need to transfer this one.
Can anybody point me in the right direction to get this done?
Thanks!

The simplest way to give control of the domain to another party would be to just contact out sales department and have us setup a new billing profile for the new owner. We can then move the domain to be under their control.

I am confused about pricing and the correct order of steps. I am a prospective new customer, and I want to transfer a domain to Arvixe Web Hosting and begin hosting it. What should I do first? Should I first purchase a hosting account and then request the transfer, or can I do both at the same time?
Also, I see a $7 per month charge for hosting, and then I see a $7.95 charge for one year for a transfer. Are these charges separate? Will I have to pay for this transfer in future years (past the ‘one year’), over and above the $7 per month for hosting? If so, how much is that charge?

You have the option to do either. If you have a live site I would just order the hosting account, get all your files setup on our server, and then order the transfer once you have everything in place. With any of our hosting accounts you will get one free domain, and that can be applied to a transfer so we could submit that on your domain and you will never have any fees associated with it.

Hello. We are a new client with a VPS and we have almost 200 domains registered through a different registrar. I am trying to decide if I should set up a reseller account through ARVIXE and transfer them as we currently pay $12 per year/ per domain. Are there hidden/ additional costs in transferring them to ARVIXE or is it simply $7.95 = renew for one year? Also - some of our important domains have been registered for 5 years - will those 5 years transfer if I transfer the domains to Arvixe? And lastly - I don't really plan on re-selling domains - would it be the same price to transfer them to ARVIXE as opposed to setting up a reseller account? Would there be any advantage to me managing my own reseller account? Thank you for your time
Michael Carr
26 March 2013 01:31 PM
The transfer fee is $7.95 and that includes a one year extension on the domain. If you transfer over a domain that has five years on it, once the transfer completes it will have six. The renewals on common domains are $9.95. For your situation I do not see any advantage to having the reseller account, as you mentioned it is more for those who actually do resell the domains.

Yes, you can host any domain with us regardless of its TLD by simply setting its name servers correctly. You will have the nameservers for your account listed in your account details email. After you point the domain to our servers, and setup the domain on your account, you can then proceed to create email accounts for the domain.

If the domain has expired you will have to renew it before it can be transferred. If just your hosting account has expired the old provider should still grant you access to your domains setting to change name servers and such.

Yes, this can all be done, but dropping the .net domain will depend on how your site is coded. Once you get the .co.uk setup I would simply alter the domain that loads the site and point both domains to the same data.

You will not be able to transfer the registration of the domain but you can transfer the hosting by first ordering a hosting account, and select the option to manually change your domains name servers. Once the account is setup the name servers will be sent out for you and you can then change them under the .com.do domain to use our Arvixe name servers. This will point the DNS for the domain to our web hosting.

Yes, we could either transfer the domain for you for free, or setup another new domain for you for free.

I have several domains as addons on my accounts there, can I transfer the addon domains free of charge for the life of the accounts?
Michael Carr
19 August 2014 09:42 AM
Each hosting account you setup provides one free domain for life. As long as you created a new account for each domain you want to host we will provide the domain registrations for free. If you hosted all of the domains under a single hosting account, you would only get one of the domain registrations for free.

i have the Authorization/EPP Key, and the old service is ended about a month from now. Planing to purchase a plan at coming Black Friday with coupon. In this case, can i wait for almost 2 month to processing mine existing domain name to arvixe while purchasing a plan from arvixe. Any unpredictable event?

Expired domains can not be transferred. I would either go ahead and transfer your domain or renew it with the old provider and then transfer it to us when you place your order.

Hello, in the "Search Availability box", there are many top level domains, except mine which is ".cc". What can be done? (just to reroute DNS servers)
Tks a lot

We are not able to register or transfer .cc domains at this time. You will have to manage the domain through the current registrar

Don't ask me how this happened, but I registerred a domain and purchased privacy so my info is not visible on whois. Now, I don't remember where, what company I used to registerred it, I can't find the confirmation email. I'm not even sure which one of my emails I used for it and I can't remember the password. Could you tell me how I could access my domain?

Hi,
I have two domains on various extensiona. Almost 13 if i am not mistaken. How much does it cost to transfer them under one hosting plan for perinl hosting basic and pro. In case of dedicating single ip address , static, how much is it per month? Finally, is there discount for bulk transfers and multiple years subscription? Thank you and have a good day,
Domains are currently patked at godaddy.

1) For specifics relating to pricing, I recommend contacting our sales department to verify as I do not want to give you one price, and possibly have it change in the future
2) The cost of a dedicated IP is $2/per month per IP per domain.
3) Please see the following relating to returning customer discount:

Hi, I've just successfully concluded the transaction to transfer a domain name to you, and I know my 24-hour window has just started.
While going through the steps it called for two settings (mandatory). I am not sure whether the following was required:
ns1.previoushostcompanyname.com
ns2.previoushostcompanyname.com
OR whether you were really asking for:
the four A record numbers which Google Blogger supplies in order for the domain to point to the Google Blog.
I entered the four A record numbers.
If that is incorrect, is there anything I can do at this time? Or, if it is incorrect, do I wait for an email from you within these first 24 hours, asking me to do this-or-that in order to complete the transfer and to point to the domain properly?
Thanks for your assistance.

It really depends. If they ask you to enter their name servers, you enter the name servers at billing.arvixe.com > domains. If they ask for an A record, you would point your domain to your hosting with us, and then setup the A record DNS zones via the cPanel > Zone Editor. If you still need further assistance relating to this, please do not hesitate to contact our support.

I've always been happy with your service. I have an account with you and a domain with sub-domains. I'm in UK; would it be worth moving everything to your Europe server?
Also I want to set up a new domain for a UK organisation under my account and later set up an account with you for them in their own right. Can I easily transfer the domain I set up for them to their account afterwards?
Thanks.

A general rule of thumb is to place the website where the majority of the users will be accessing it from. Realistically though, at very best it would only usually net you a second or two faster loading speeds for the country you are targeting when compared to hosting it out of the USA.

I got the PersonalClass Plan for my domain: dfmurcia.graphics
Due there was no possibility to entry that new TDL .graphics as I ordered the hosting service, needed to make it after paying. Now the I entered the Authorization key two days ago but the transfer appears still as pending, it also seems as I need to pay for the transfer of the domain to host that I actually paid for.
Please let me know if:
1. I need to pay for the transfer/hosting again and how much? exactly, there appear $14,99 for the transfer order and $20/year on the transfer pending line.
2. How long supposed to take the domain transfer? my current registrar is Namecheap.com, the domain should be unlocked for transfers at this time.
Thanks in advance,
Diego

A domain transfer is included for free with any of our hosting plans. This only includes 1 domain transfer though. The rest are billed at a respective rate, the cost we inquire to become the gaining registrar. For inquiries on this fee, please reach out to our sales department.
A domain transfer can take anywhere from 1-7 days, and largely depends on the losing registrar. You can fast track this process by ensuring the domain is unblocked, and contact information up to date for said domain, also by responding to any inquiries you receive from us or the losing registrar quickly.

I think I'm clear, but I just want to verify a couple of things before I initiate a new account and transfer. I currently have two domains/websites with another host. One domain is a .org, which I understand I can transfer to Arvixe as my free one. The other is a .photos, which I cannot transfer, but if I change the name servers through the current registrar, I can set up and host that website here, and set up .photos email addresses here. Is all that correct? TIA. :)

Hello, my domain expired 2 days ago it is registered with enom. what is the procedure for transferring this domain?
Ryan C
23 June 2015 10:01 PM
Is the domain currently actively registered through Arvixe? Arvixe registered domain are registered under the eNom umbrella. If its with us and expired, please contact us to renew it. If it is with eNom directly please contact them. Once renewed the domain will be eligible for transfer. Else you will need for the domain to become available again for registration.
