What are the paths to ffmpeg, mencoder, mplayer, flvtool2 and more...
Posted by - NA - on 21 September 2009 05:40 AM
Most commonly on our Linux servers, these are their paths:

/usr/local/bin/ffmpeg
/usr/local/bin/mencoder
/usr/local/bin/mplayer
/usr/bin/flvtool2
/usr/local/bin/php

/usr/bin/mogrify
/usr/bin/convert
/usr/bin/display
/usr/bin/composite
/usr/bin/wget
/usr/bin/curl
/usr/local/bin/lame
/usr/local/bin/perl

If you find that your server does not have any of the above installed, please contact support [at] arvixe.com with your username and preferably the server that you are on and we will be more than happy to install the above on your server.

Be aware that paths listed are for Linux servers. Windows servers do not use the same syntax. For instance, the path to Perl is c:\perl64\bin\perl.exe. Or at least that's what Arvixe told me. I've yet to get any Perl script to work however. It is being worked on I'm told. Otherwise, I've been reasonably pleased with Arvixe as my new host.

Thank you for that. Yes, that is the correct path for Perl. You may wish to forward your ticket ID to qa .at. arvixe.com so our quality assurance can make sure it gets done properly if you are still unable to get your perl script working.

I would test out the application. Depending on what the red actually means, some applications are unable to parse the version numbers properly and falsely display a red mark. But if things are not working, provide our staff with credentials to see the red mark so they can resolve it.

Thank you for the comment. Most windows binaries can be executed with or without adding the .exe file extension onto the command.

We can only offer specific versions of ffmpeg on our shared systems. On a VPS/Dedicated server a specific version may be requested. I'd recommend contacting support to inquire about specifics relating to versions as this may be out of date.
